Sindh Teachers Education Development Authority (STEDA) has been established to oversee and regulate the teacher training activites and to maintain the standards of the trainings and the training providers. Government of Sindh is enriched with 29 institutes for initial teacher education that were delivering out-dated pre-service training courses till 2010.
Having the two policy initiatives of (i) National Education Policy and (ii) Teacher Education Development and USAID Pre STEP led rationalization study, focusing on updated and standardized pre-service teacher education training; it became the foremost responsibility of Education Department to introduce the higher professional qualification for teachers. Accordingly following measures have been taken:
1. The PTC,CT courses had been ceased to be existed from Academic Session 2011-12 and onwards.
2. A two year ADE program leading to 4 year B.Ed. Honors (HEC approved) have been introduced in Sindh.
