Sindh Teachers Education Development Authority (STEDA) has been established to oversee and regulate the teacher development activites and to maintain the standards of the trainings and the training providers.
Government of Sindh is enriched with 29 institutes for initial teacher education that were delivering out-dated pre-service training courses till 2010.
Having the two policy initiatives of (i) National Education Policy and (ii) Teacher Education Development and USAID Pre STEP led rationalization study, focusing on updated and standardized pre-service teacher education development; it became the foremost responsibility of Education Department to introduce the higher professional qualification for teachers. Accordingly following measures have been taken:
The Board of Governors (BoGs) of Sindh Teachers Education Developement Authority (STEDA) will execute strategic and policy decisions as prescribed in the STEDA Act 2012.
